Amazing GRACE

Links Are Back - another project that got bogged down was creating a database of our links. But taking the links down while we figured out what to do was depriving our visitors with a part of ScienceMaster that is very popular. So the links are back up and organized better. We still have on our 'to do' list making the links database driven, but for now we think it works fine. You can access all our links from the QuickLinks button on the top navigation bar.


E-Commerce - in the rush to garner eyeballs (as site visitors are called) everyone was falling over each other making everything FREE, FREE, FREE. We develop software, products, sell books, posters, but the mantra of free was too great, and as a smaller site our volume wasn't there. So, we've thrown in the towel. Except for some of our books and original photographs everything is FREE, FREE, FREE.


Home Pages - our home pages for science have gotten shorter and more to the point. We've taken off many of the off-site links and are featuring more of the good stuff we have on ScienceMaster. This does a few things for us. First, it lets the pages load faster. We realize that many of you are still dialing up at 28.8 and the wait was too much. Second, why put off-site links right in your face when you've just arrived? Instead, we are going to add a page off of each home page with our favorite new links and discoveries. Hope that's okay with you.


Features - our Features pages proved to distract us too much from our core offerings - our JumpStart Pages and our Learning Galleries, so we've moved our best feature pages and linked them off of an appropriate home page. Makes more sense. Plus, (sour grapes), we were not getting much cooperation from content providers.


Columns - another section that is suffering is our Columns and Articles section, although we haven't decided to pull the plug yet. I have a strong desire to make this an important part of the site. But again, I can't get any volunteers to either submit articles or write columns. I'd have thought this was a perfect venue for teacher and scientist articles. If you have any ideas what we are doing wrong, let us know. For now, the columns are fun but they're not too fresh.
